My Card Collection
In this article we will look at some of the different baseball cards in my collection.
The reason I am sharing some of my collection with you is because when I was a kid I used to go around and collect beer bottles late at night. I would have a shopping cart and go from trash can to trash can collecting 5 cent coke bottles. I would take all the bottles to the store and recycle them, with the money I earned I would go buy baseball cards. I was always trying to get the 1992 Stadium club card for Shaq. At the time it was a $40 dollar card, however, trying to get this card meant everything for me. The first time I started collecting cards was back when I lived in Germany and they won the world cup in 1990, everything shut down for a week.
In 1991 Bruce McNall and Wayne Gretzky bought a Honus Wagner T206 card for $451 thousand is now worth $7.5 million today.
Here is parts of my card collection:
First card is Jerry West, he is the NBA Logo.
1961 Fleer Jerry West – BGS 7.5 valued at $5,000 today
Second car is a Mickey Mantle, he was a baseball player.
1953 Topps Mickey Mantle – BVG 7 valued at $13,000 today
Third card is Wilt Chamberlain, this guy was an anomaly.
1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain Rookie Card – PSA 8 valued at $15,000 today
Fourth card is a Babe Ruth baseball card.
1933 Goudy Babe Ruth #144 – PSA 5 valued at $13 – $15 thousand today
Fifth card is a Ted Williams, a baseball player who won a triple crown pre-world war 2 and then after the war as well.
1939 Play Ball Ted Williams – PSA 8 valued at $42,000
Sixth card is Joe DiMaggio, a baseball player that had a 56 hit game streak.
1938 Goudey Joe DiMaggio – PSA 8 valued at $42,000 today
Seventh card is another Babe Ruth card.
1933 Babe Ruth #149 – PSA 8 valued at $155,000 today
Next card is a Wayne Gretzky rookie card
1979 Topps Wayne Gretzky – PSA 10 sold for $205,000 in 2015/16
Last card is another Wayne Gretzky hockey card.
1979 O-PEE-CHEE Wayne Gretzky – PSA 10 valued at $465,000 in 2016
There is another reason I am showing you this collection, and that is because it is important to have a hobby that brings out the childlike side of you in life. When I hold this card I go straight back to being the 12 year old that wanted to collect cards.
